A Year Round Program

Haddon Township Rowing is a scholastic sculling club that supports a competitive rowing program throughout the school year as well as two summer rowing camps and a fall youth development program for middle school students.

Established in 2004 to promote the sport of rowing among Haddon Township youth, the Club has produced state and national winners with first place finishes at Stotesbury (the largest scholastic regatta in the nation), the Scholastic Rowing Association of America Nationals, the Garden States Championship and City Championship. The team routinely qualifies boats to compete at the US Rowing Youth Nationals and in 2019 the Boys Varsity Quad was ranked 5th in the nation.

PROGRAMS
Fall Scholastic Competitive Program
Open to any student at Haddon Township High School. Season begins at the start of school and continues thru mid-November. Generally, rowers compete in 4-5 regional regattas,  However, this year the organizing entities that host the fall regattas have cancelled the fall races. The Club is working to provide competitive racing opportunities that comply with guidance for non-contact, outside sporting activities.

Spring Scholastic Competitive Program
Our Winter/Spring program begins in January with winter conditioning and strength training. Practices are held after school in the Club's 'erg room' at the High School. When weather permits, water practices resumes. Initially water practices will continue to be in the afternoon but in a few weeks shift to early morning where there's less traffic on the river and water conditions are much improved. Rowers compete in 12 or more regattas during the spring season and this includes several national contests.

Fall Youth Development
Intended for 7th and 8th graders at Rohrer Middle School, the program consists of six, 2-hour sessions held on consecutive Saturdays starting in mid-September.

Summer Learn To Row
One week introductory program conducted during the summer for 7th and 8th grade students. Participants learn basic rowing skills, terminology and boat handling skills.

Summer Technical Training Camp
Designed for high school rowers with at least one year competitive experience. Camp focuses on fitness, strength conditioning and improving individual rower's technical skills. Includes water training in singles, doubles and quads, weight training and video analysis.  Five week program held during the summer.

PRACTICE
Haddon Township Rowing Club rows out of the Camden County Boathouse located on the Cooper River at 7050 N Park Drive, Pennsauken NJ 08109. When conditions do not allow for water practice, rowers report to the team's 'erg room'  at the Haddon Township High School or they work out in the team's bay at the boathouse.

Winter conditioning (to prepare for the spring competitive racing season), takes place at Haddon Township High School.
