This is the world's largest high school regatta with over 5,000 competitors for 193 clubs around the United States and Canada Six of the clubs nine crews have advanced to race Saturday.
Brie and Mariana started the day off with an impressive time trial in the girls jr. double. Although they did not advance they raced extremely well for only joining forces this week. Keaton and Joel followed them with a heart breaker in the boys jr double, missing out on the semi's by 0.03 seconds. They also raced very well, and this should be good motivation as they move forward. The girls lightweight double of Kate and Juliette continued their successful season by moving out of the time-trial and then advancing to the finals tomorrow with the fourth fastest time of the day in the semi's. Their final will be at 2:20 tomorrow. The boys jr quad of Tyler, Dan, Ryan, and Noah was the second boat to advance to the semi-finals and will be racing at 8:30 tomorrow. They were followed by a very impressive race by the girls jr quad of Angela, Lauren, Maddie, and Noa. The girls finished with the third fastest time in the time-trial and will compete in the semi's tomorrow at 8:45. Evan finished out his season by continuing to improve his racing in the boys varsity single. He has impressed the coaches more and more each day and has become very competent in the single, one of the hardest boats to race! Cassidy was the next to qualify for Saturday racing with a great row in the girls varsity single. She will race in the semi's tomorrow at 10:50. Emily and Nicole finished with the sixth fastest time of the trials in the girls senior double. They will be racing in the semi's at 9:35. The last boat to advance to the semi's was the boys varsity quad. In a great race they were able to finish sixth overall in an extremely fast field. They will move on to race tomorrow at 10:25. |
