Welcome to Head of the Schuylkill week! This is the largest regatta of the fall season for HTCC so be prepared for lots of traffic on the roads and on the paths. All athletes are required to arrive at the trailer (3 angels) two hours prior to their race time. The weather looks iffy so be sure to bring extra layers in case it rains.
Event: Lineup: Race Time: ------------------------------------------------------------------- WHSV1x Olivia 8:20 WHSJv1x Ella ------------------------------------------------------------------- MHSV4x Erik/Luke/Dan/Duff 11:35 ------------------------------------------------------------------- MHSFN4x Matt/Eric/Nolan/Jay 12:05 Mason/JJ/Will/Alex Jack S/Jack M/Mike/Tristan ------------------------------------------------------------------- WHSFN4x Emily/Alex/Portia/Brooke 12:05 ------------------------------------------------------------------- MHSJv2x Aidan/Vince 2:30 Davey/Walter ------------------------------------------------------------------- WHSFN2x Emily/Gillian 3:30 ------------------------------------------------------------------- GO HAWKS!!!! It was weather more befitting a spring Manny Flick, but that didn't dampen the enthusiasm of HTCC rowers and parents at last Saturday's Coin Toss. Nor, it seems, did it affect the generosity of drivers. The event raised more than $1,300 for the team - a remarkable amount given fact that it was raised in a little under 2 hours - half the expected time frame. Check out the images below.

HTCC completed a successful day at the Navy Day Regatta yesterday. The regatta was the first test of the season for the varsity athletes and the first race ever for the novices.
The varsity team had a busy day with each athlete racing twice. Ella and Olivia put in a solid race against elite level athletes in the womens open double event. Olivia then went on to finish in fifth place in the high school single. Aidan and Vince, and Dave and Walter also raced in open doubles before teaming up to finish in 12th place out of 37 entries in the high school quad. Erik, Luke, Dan, and Duff started the day by finishing third in the open quad. Luke and Duff then went on to win the high school double with Erik and Dan following right behind them in second place! Since there were no novice events this weekend, all five HTCC novice crews entered the racing world competing against varsity boats and performed extremely well! All 12 boys raced in the high school quad event making it down the difficult course without incident and even passed some other crews along the way! Tristan, Will, Jack M, and Alex started down the course followed by John, Jack H, Eric, and Mason, and then Nolan, Mike, Jack S, and Matt. All three crews had excellent races! Great job boys! Gillian and Mackenzie were the first to go off for the novice girls, racing in the womens high school double. They had an excellent first race, beating nine other crews! Emily, Alex, Portia, and Brooke took to the water for their first race in the womens high school quad. They put together a great race against some of the top varsity crews in the area and held their own. Great job girls! Overall the coaches were extremely pleased with the results and look forward to seeing how the team progresses in two weeks at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta. Practice is normal time on Monday. GO HAWKS!!! Race season is finally here! HTCC will be headed to the Schuylkill River this Saturday to compete in the Navy Day Regatta. The forecast looks great but be prepared with extra clothes because it's going to be a pretty long day. All athletes must arrive at the boat trailer two hours prior to their race time. Check the 2016 Fall Season tab for important information about being a 'food family', including assignments. Each crew family is expected to participate in providing food at one regatta during the season. Food is provided for rowers, coaches and HTCC supporters there to cheer on the team. New families are paired with those who have 'done this before' so there will always be one or two experienced guides to help with planning, set-up and wrap. If your name is not on the assignment list, please contact Jennifer McGarry at [email protected].
This section also includes Directions to race sites and a Regatta Primer. |
