The HT hawks faced fierce winds at Sunday’s Head of The Schuylkill Regatta. The head races started bright and early with Amanda racing among the JV trainer singles (photo below). She raced an impressive 4k, passing a boat in the final stretch. She finished 2nd out of 3. Next came Keaton, Tyler, Ryan, and Noah racing in the men’s varsity quad category. The boys finished in 7th place out of 20 boats with a time of 14:32.58. Erik, Luke, Dan M, and Joey battled the winds in the JV quad (middle photo below). The boys had a great finish and won 3rd place out of 16! The girl’s JV quad finished their race out strong and finished 10th out of 13. Mike and Paul raced among the varsity doubles and rowed 4,000 meters in 17:21.45. The pair finished 36th out of 45. Walter and Liam paired up to battle the worsening conditions in the JV double category. They finished their race in 17th place out of 20 crews. The last race for HT was the women’s varsity double. Olivia and Lauren rowed down the racecourse in 17:46.34 finishing 11th out of 37 varsity crews.
The team has two weeks to prepare for the last races of the season, the Frostbite and the Braxton, which will be held this year at Lake Mercer. We will be hitting the water hard and taking advantage of our final weeks on the water. Thank you to the family and friends who came out to support!
