The girls were unable to advance to the finals, but we are expecting big things from them as the go forward into the summer and next season. Great job this year girls! Parker, Aidan, Walter, and Vince were next up in the boys junior quad. Due to an unfortunate injury yesterday, Davey had to end his season early and Parker jumped out of the single and into the quad. Even though they have practiced once in this lineup, the boys had a fantastic time-trial and finished in 8th place, advancing to the semi-finals! They will race at 8:30 tomorrow. Angela, Olivia, Kara, and Sophia came next for the Hawks in the girls senior quad. The girls raced hard in a tough event, finishing in seventh place and advancing to the semi-finals tomorrow. Rebecca finished the day for the Hawks in the girls senior single. Rebecca put in a great race but was unable to advance to tomorrow. Rebecca started the day off in the single and put in a great race, finishing just outside of advancing to the semis. Duff followed a few minutes behind in the single, finishing in second place to move to the semis. In the semi-final, Duff put on an inspiring performance, coming back from several boat lengths out of the race and sprinting back to finish in third place, with the fourth overall time, to advance to finals tomorrow. Vince and Walter came down the course next for the Hawks. In a race full of seniors and varsity rowers, the boys raced hard but fell short of advancing. Angela, Olivia, Kara, and Sophia followed next, finishing in second place in their heat and then first place in their semi-final this evening. The girls are improving every race and look to continue that streak as they go into the finals tomorrow with the second best overall time in the semis. Erik, Dan, Luke, and Parker came next, finishing in second place in their heat, well ahead of third place, and go into the finals tomorrow with the third fastest overall time. The boys quad is also getting faster every day and are looking for a great performance tomorrow. Ella and Julie were the last of the crews to race in the heats for the Hawks. Although Julie fell prior to the race and cut her lip, she used it as motivation, spitting blood and scaring the competition as they rowed through the third place crew, earning a place in tomorrow’s finals. Davey and Aidan will be going straight to the finals tomorrow for their first race of the weekend. Great job today! GO HAWKS!!! The boys (Erik, Dan, Luke, and Parker) and girls (Angela, Sophia, Olivia, and Rebecca) varsity quads raced hard through the time trials, earning positions in the grand finals against very tough competition. Both quads came away with fifth place finishes. In the JV doubles, Ella and Julie, and Vince and Walter had fantastic time trials. Although they finished out of the time standard for the finals, they pushed closer to the top crews than they have been all year and continue to improve each day! Despite only practicing in the single a few times, Kara had a tremendous race in the time trial to earn a place in the final of the womens varsity single -- this is an extremely competitive race and making the final is very impressive! Dave and Aidan in the boys freshman double came away with the first medal of the day and the first medal of their careers! After finishing the time trial in second place, the boys stayed strong in the afternoon and held their position, coming away with a silver medal! Way to go boys! Duff earned the second and final medal of the day for the club in the mens varsity single. After finishing fourth in the time trial, Paul knew he had to really push to get into the medals and he did it. He started strong and finished stronger, taking away a bronze medal in very difficult and competitive event. Great job Duff!
