The Hawks have a busy weekend with the Neczypor Memorial Regatta on Saturday and Manny Flick 4 on Sunday! It could be a rainy weekend so be prepared with extra layers. The Hawks are headed back to the Schuylkill this weekend for Manny Flick #3! The forecast is calling for rain so come prepared with extra layers. Sunday is also the Love Run Half Marathon so anticipate traffic and plan to leave early. All athletes are required to arrive at the trailer 2 hours prior to their race time. All Racers must complete the 2025 CCS Waiver. The waiver requires parent signature if under 18 years old. Competitors will not be able to race without a signed 2025 waiver.
Address: The Drexel University Recreation Center, 3301 Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19104. Please enter the building on the 33rd street side near Lancaster Walk. Parking is located in the garage across the street on the corner of 34th and Market. Access to the garage is behind the building on 34th and Ludlow. Metered street parking is also available around Drexel University. Additional race day information can be found at https://www.centercityslam.com.  At the team's first race of the season and their debut at the Winter Watt Farm Indoor Regatta in Lyndhurst, the Hawks did great with 3 athletes bringing home medals. Kudos to Henry Fowler and Callum Coughlin, who both earned silver in their individual races, and to Ian O'Conner, who claimed a bronze medal in the men's junior lightweight category. The next challenge for the Hawks is the Center City Slam, the second of three indoor regattas before transitioning to outdoor racing. (left to right: Ian O'Connor, Henry Fowler, and Callum Coughlin).
Congratulations to Senior Rower Henry Fowler who has committed to row for the Jacksonville University Dolphins, an NCAA Division 1 team. A signing ceremony took place recently at the High School to honor and celebrate Henry's impressive achievement. Attending the event were Henry's parents (Heather and Tom), HTR Coaches Gregg Francis and Keith Ferguson, Assist Principal Kevin Greenway and teammates who interrupted afternoon practice join the celebration.
A big thank you to all the HT Rowers who paused their holiday break to come to the aid of one of the team's launches. A completely non-functional engine required the manual retrieval of the launch from Cooper River for its winter storage and maintenance. This entailed dragging a very heavy launch onto the boat dock, up a steep incline, and then onto a trailer. A smart plan, supported by many strong rowers with robust straps and determination, ensured success. Special thanks to the Equipment Crew for a brilliant solution, and to the rowers who effectively and safely executed the plan.  It could not have been a better game for the winner of our Eagles Ticket Raffle Chris Bell (shown right at game with friend Jennifer Kline). Chris held the winning ticket (# 0090) for a pair of tickets to the Eagles-Cowboys matchup on December 29th. Not only did the Birds clinch the NFC East Title, they walloped the Cowboys and no one in the stands froze. The weather was as awesome as the game. The team is most grateful to the Gartland Family for their generous contribution of the game tickets that helped raise substantial funds for the coming season.
