HTCC had a great weekend on the Schuylkill River at the PSRA Philadelphia City Championship! The club sent eight of ten crews to the finals and came away with four medals!
In his first week in a single ever, Jon Weber put together a fantastic time trial for the boys freshman/novice single on Saturday, finishing 6th overall and earning a spot in the finals. He moved himself even further up in the standings on Sunday with a 5th place finish! Quinn Johnston and Kerry Dietrich came next for the Hawks, finishing fifth place overall in the time trial for the girls freshman/novice double on Saturday and earning a spot in the finals on Sunday. The girls were not satisfied with fifth place, however, and raced themselves into third place overall in the finals on Sunday, earning themselves a bronze medal!! In their first week in a double, John Buan and Owen Fitzpatrick also had a great time trial, finishing sixth overall in the boys freshman/novice double and earning a spot in the finals on Sunday! They rowed well in the finals, and finished 6th place overall! Olivia Hollingsworth, Fiona Steele, Maya Jacobsen, and Sara Ladik looked to continue their unbeaten streak this weekend. Facing tough competition, the streak was broken in the time trials as they finished second overall in the girls freshman quad, advancing themselves to the finals on Sunday. They were not happy at all with this result and came back Sunday ready to make a statement. They did just that, racing to a seven second victory and earning the club's only gold medal of the weekend! Alex Tingley moved from the double to the JV single this weekend, and showed she can move any boat she's in! She finished in third place in Saturday's time trial, and then continued on to do the same in the final, earning a bronze medal! Mason Weaver and Matt Weller were next up for the Hawks in the boys JV double. They put together a strong piece a difficult time trial, but ultimately fell just shy of advancing to the finals, They finished 10th overall in a tough field! Anthony Johnson, Tristan Burnham, Nolan McHugh, and Jay Reinert raced next for the Hawks in the boys JV quad, finishing in 6th place overall in Saturday's time trial and earning a spot in Sunday's finals! They weren't satisfied either, and moved themselves into fourth place in the finals! In the girls varsity double, Emily Donohue and Morgan Van Dexter had a solid time trial, finishing in sixth place, earning themselves a place in Sunday's finals. They came into the finals ready to move themselves up further in the standings and they did just that, finishing in fifth place overall! Dave Wakeley and Nick Perks followed the girls in the boys varsity double. They faced tough competition and put together a great race, finishing 7th overall. Aidan Cronin, Vince Fitzpatrick, Jack Haigh, and Jack Savell were the last race of the weekend of the Hawks in the boys varsity quad. Their race was a straight final, but the competition was extremely tough. The boys jumped out to an early lead over the field, and remaining in medal position throughout the race, finishing in third place overall and earning a bronze medal! The club will return to the Schuylkill River on May 18th and 19th for the 91st annual Stotesbury Cup Regatta! GO HAWKS!!! Comments are closed.
