Flick 5 Recap and Practice Schedule

HTCC returned to the Schuylkill today for the 5th and final regatta in the Manny Flick Series.  Despite early calls for lousy weather, today saw some of the best racing conditions of the season and a very good day for the Hawks!

Mike and Will started the day for the Hawks with a great race and a solid fourth place finish in the novice double.

Jack S, Jack M, Anthony, and Jay followed with a dominating performance in the novice quad, finishing first in their flight and first overall by 15 seconds!  Way to go boys!

In what may have been the best finish of the day, Parker and Vince put together an amazing sprint, walking through Christian Brothers in the last few strokes of the race, winning by 0.34 seconds!

Luke, Erik, Dan, and Duff followed next with a tough race in the varsity quad, finishing in third place.  The boys were in fourth coming into the last 100 meters but managed to find a way to pick the boat up and pull back into the top three.

In the first time trial of the day for the Hawks, Matt, Nolan, Nick, and Jack H had a difficult race but still finished in second place overall!

Aidan went next in time trials in a stacked JV single field, finishing in seventh place overall with a solid time.

Ella, Emily, Portia, and Erica had one of their best pieces during the time trial in the JV quad!  Despite racing in a JV event with three novices in the boat they were able to pass another crew and finished with a great time overall!

In the last race of the day for the Hawks, Mackenzie, Brooke, Alex, and Gillian flew ahead early and took a commanding lead in the novice quad.  They were able to open up their lead even further through the race and finished in first place by 6 seconds!  Great job girls!!

The Hawks will be coming home this weekend to race in the Garden State Scholastic Championship Regatta on Saturday and the Cooper Cup on Sunday.

The practice schedule this week is as follows:

Monday: Unload and rig after school and then water practice
Tuesday: OFF
Wednesday-Friday: 5 am to 7 am water practice
