HTCC had a fantastic Saturday on the Cooper River at the Garden State Scholastic Championship Regatta! Out of the nine crews racing, seven came away with medals, and three rowed through the finish line as state champions!!
Emily Donohue was the first to race in the finals in the womens senior single event. The single is one of the most difficult boats to race and Emily put together a great piece, finishing in second place to win a silver medal, and earned a spot at the SRAA National Championship Regatta! Quinn Johnston and Kerry Dietrich were next up for the Hawks. These two are both novices but they didn't let that stop them from earning a state championship medal in the womens junior double! After a great win in the heats, the girls raced themselves to a silver medal in the finals! Mason Weaver and Matt Weller also won their heat in the mens junior double on Saturday morning. They looked strong coming into the finals, and had a solid fourth place finish! Alex Tingley and Morgan Van Dexter also won their heat in the womens senior double. They came into the final ready to race and earned themselves a silver medal as well as qualifying for the SRAA National Championship Regatta! Dave Wakeley and Nick Perks were next up for the Hawks in the mens senior double. They put together a solid race for themselves, finishing in fourth place overall! Olivia Hollingsworth, Fiona Steele, Maya Jacobsen, and Sara Ladik looked to continue their dominance in the womens freshman quad, and they sure did! They finished 22 seconds ahead of second place, continuing their undefeated streak, earning a GOLD MEDAL, the title of State Champions, and qualifying for the SRAA National Championship Regatta! John Buan, Owen Fitzpatrick, Jake Stech, and Jon Weber followed the girls with another dominant performance! They raced themselves to a 20 second victory in the mens novice quad event and earned themselves a GOLD MEDAL and the title of State Champions! Anthony Johnson, Nolan McHugh, Tristan Burnham, and Jay Reinert won their heat in the mens junior quad, and setting themselves up in a solid position for the finals. They had a great race in the finals, coming in second place and earning a silver medal! The last race of the day for the Hawks also happened to be the biggest margin of victory! The mens senior quad of Aidan Cronin, Vince Fitzpatrick, Jack Haigh, and Jack Savell burned down the course to a 40 second victory! They earned themselves a GOLD MEDAL, the title of State Champions, and qualified to race at the SRAA National Championship Regatta! Great job everyone!!! GO HAWKS!!!!! Comments are closed.
