Navy Day Regatta Race Recap

10/16/2017

HTCC spent Saturday afternoon on the banks of the Schuylkill River for the first regatta of the fall head race season.  The Hawks sent 13 crews to face off against top local competition and produced some solid results!

Jay started the day off for the Hawks in the men's single.  A head race in a single is one of the most mentally challenging events and Jay fought his way down the course with a strong race!

Owen and Jon W had the first race of the day for the novices and had a great race, finishing ahead of three crews in a varsity event!  Vince and Aidan raced in the same event, finishing a solid 8th out of 33 crews.  Vince and Aidan will be headed to Boston this weekend to race in the Head of the Charles Regatta!

The next race was the busiest of the day for the club, with 4 crews racing in the men's high school quad event, and two finishing in the top 10!
-As novices, Ben, Felix, John B, and Jake had a great race, finishing ahead of two crews in a varsity event
-Eric, Jack M, Michael, and Will looked strong going down the course and finished just out of the top 50%
-Matt, Anthony, Jack H, and Tristan raced themselves into the top 10 with a 9th place finish!
-Davey, Mason, Jack S, and Nolan had the best result of all the quads finishing in 7th place!  Great job boys!

Brooke and Portia started the day off for the women, racing in the high school singles.  Although both are coming off of injury, they rowed hard and put themselves into good positions moving forward!

Maya and Olivia were the first novice women to go down the course for the Hawks.  They had an outstanding performance, finishing ahead of a third of the competition in a varsity event!  Alex and Gilly had another great performance in this event, finishing 5th overall and putting themselves in a strong spot going forward.  Alex and Gilly will be heading to Boston this weekend to race in the Head of the Charles Regatta!

Quinn, Fiona, Kerry, and Sara had another great performance for the women.  As a novice quad, they finished ahead of 12 crews in a varsity event!  Morgan, Ella, Erica, and Emily looked strong coming down the course and finished just outside of the top 50%.

The Hawks will be sending two crews to Boston this weekend for the Head of the Charles.  More information about that will be posted later this week.  The full team will return to the Schuylkill River in two weeks for the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta.

GO HAWKS!!!!!!
