IMPORTANT SCHEDULE CHANGE:
Race times times for this afternoon have been pushed forward. THE GIRLS FRESHMAN QUAD FINAL IS AT 1:35 THE BOYS VARSITY QUAD FINAL IS AT 2:55 HTCC completed day 1 of racing at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta on Cooper River today with three boats advancing to the semi's and finals! The rain held off for the most part but the winds did not. Almost every crew faced the strongest head wind we've seen this season but they didn't let it stop them! Before getting into a full recap of the day please see below for tomorrow's schedule. Saturday Schedule and Lineups: Boys Senior Double: Nick Perks/Dave Wakeley -Semi-Final: 9:30 -- Top 3 advance to the final -Final: 3:46 Girls Freshman Quad: Olivia Hollingsworth/Maya Jacobsen/Fiona Steele/Sara Ladik -Final: 2:01 -- Lane 4 Boys Senior Quad: Jack Savell/Aidan Cronin/Jack Haigh/Vince Fitzpatrick -Final: 4:21 -- Lane 1 Friday Time-Trials Recap: Novices Kerry and Quinn started the day off for the Hawks racing in the junior double event. They had a solid race, defeating 11 more experienced crews and finishing 25th overall. Mason and Matt followed in the boys junior double. The finished in 19th place overall. Olivia, Maya, Fiona, and Sara overcame a few mishaps during their time-trial and still managed to finish in second place overall! The girls look to continue their fantastic season tomorrow at 2:01 when they race in the finals! Anthony, Tristan, Nolan, and Jay raced in the junior quad just as the wind really started to pick up. They needed top six to advance to the finals and fell just short, finishing in 7th place overall. Even though we won't be seeing them in the finals, they had a great race! Emily and Morgan were next up in the girls senior double. They faced a 20 mph head wind but rowed well through it. They finished 17th overall. Nick and Davey needed to finish in the top 12 to advance to the finals in the boys senior double and they did just that, finishing in 11th overall! Jack S, Aidan, Jack H, and Vince overcame their size disadvantage in the head wind and managed to race their way into tomorrow's finals in the boys senior quad, finishing in 5th place overall! Racing in a single is hard enough in good weather. You need to be strong willed and determined to be able to push yourself through the pain that comes during a 1500 meter race by yourself. When you add in a strong headwind it is that much more difficult! As a sophomore, Alex showed her grit in one of the toughest races of the day during the worst of the wind and against much older and more experienced competition! She didn't advance to the finals but she will be back again next week at the SRAA National Championship!
